The Jason Parker Quartet hit the road for a two-week tour in May 2010. We were equipped with audio, video and cameras to document the whole experience. You can find all posts about the tour here.
Day four of the Jason Parker Quartet tour was Mother’s Day, and it just so happened that my mother was in San Francisco with us! I can’t remember the last time I got to spend Mother’s Day with my mom so it was a real treat. We started the day at Yank Sing for some of the best dim sum around. Thanks to my folks for treating the whole band to one of the best meals of the tour! Originally this was supposed to be a day off for all of us, but my Twitter friend Darin Wilson needed a sub for a gig with the Rob Evans Quartet and Josh agreed to step in! So after brunch we headed to North Beach to kill a couple hours having espresso at Cafe Greco, checking out the view from the top of Telegraph Hill and hanging out in the beautiful sunshine outside the venue, Rose Pistola. Here’s the video highlight reel from day four:
And here’s Josh tearing it up with Rob and the group on Joe Henderson’s wonderful composition “Recorda Me”:
Finally, we didn’t do much driving, but we managed to squeeze in a little listening in the van:
1. Darrah Parker – On the Road Again – The “Livin’ the Dream” Mixtape
2. Jill Scott – Who Is Jill Scott?
3. J Dilla – Donuts
4. Threat of Beauty – Live at the Ethnic Culture Theatre
5. Beck – Guero
6. Cold Play – Rush of Blood to the Head
7. Picoso – Vamanos Pal Mole
