The 100 CD’s Project began on October 20, 2009 as an experiment in getting my new CD out into the world. You can see all the posts relating to the project here.
Fresh on the heals of CD #55 being found, today I got an email from Iceland about CD #72! That’s two in one week…how cool!My friend Sunna Gunnlaugs, an incredible pianist from Iceland, dropped my CD’s around Reykjavik a few weeks ago. Here’s what she wrote about CD #72: “Disc 72 was dropped off at the Monday night Bebop Jam at Kaffe Kúltúra in Reykjavík which is organized by Mulinn Jazzclub. A minute later a saxophonist came and picked it up. He seemed thrilled and I hope he emailed you.”
Indeed he did! Here’s the note I received this morning:
“Hey Jason,
My name is Ragnar and I found your CD in Reykjavík, Iceland. I play Tenor Sax and I study music at the jazz conservatoire here in Reykjavík. I’ve listened to your CD trough few times. I like it. The Tenor Girl plays nice!
Best wishes from Iceland,
Ragnar”
Thanks Ragnar! The “tenor girl” is Cynthia Mullis, and she’s a badass, indeed!
Great that he wrote you. I must confess I messed up the order of the CDs. Ragnar got his at Mulinn Jazzclub at Kaffe Kultura i Reykjavik.
Ha ha! “The Tenor Girl.” I like it.
Actually, Sunna, I think it was I who messed up the CDs. I had both listed as #72. That has now been updated. Thanks for the catch.
Cynthia…that’s how I’m going to introduce you at gigs from now on! 😉
