This Friday!

The Jason Parker Quartet’s Nick Drake Tribute show is on two days away! I’m so excited to debut our new arrangements of tunes from Drake’s album “Five Leaves Left”. I’ve been working on this project for two years and can’t wait for you to hear it!

Today we rehearsed with Michele Khazak, who will be singing with us on a few tunes. Michele is one of my favorite vocalists in town and when I decided to remake “Five Leaves Left” she was the one and only singer I wanted to work with. Her voice, her commitment, her passion are all perfectly suited to this material and to the JPQ. Today, she proved that to be true and then some!

I fired up the video camera at rehearsal today and got some nice footage. I haven’t been able to get through all of it, but I wanted to give you a little taste of what you’ll experience if you come out to Lucid Jazz Lounge on Friday. I can tell you right now that you won’t be disappointed!

So here is the last couple minutes of our run-through of “Day Is Done”:

Hope you dug it! And I would love to see you Friday night. I can promise you an amazing night of music, a wonderful atmosphere in which to hang, and I’ll even introduce you to my parents who’ll be in town for the show! How can you pass that up???

Sounds great! And someone needs to tell D’Vonne he’s having too much fun! 🙂

Nice! A tribute to (underrated) Nick Drake is a wonderful idea!
Cheers,
Greg
