WooHoo!

We reached our Kickstarter goal!

Last night at 8:47pm our 131st backer put us over the top! I can’t tell you how excited I am that we reached our goal and how much I appreciate each and every one of you. While that last pledge was a thrill, it was the combined effort of all 131 backers that helped us fund this campaign. It was a true community effort, which is just as exciting as the funding itself. It’s long been said that “it takes a village”, and today I’m proud and honored to call 131 beautiful people my neighbors!

If you’re in Seattle, I hope you’ll come out to Lucid Jazz Lounge tonight to help us celebrate this momentous occasion. We’ll be playing the Nick Drake tunes live from 7-10pm as a warm-up for the recording session, which begins on Sunday. I would love to raise a glass and toast our good fortune with you.

If you can’t make it tonight, stay tuned for updates. We’ll hopefully get some good video at the show, as well as from the studio during the recording sessions. And then sometime in early 2011 I’ll be able to share this beautiful music with you.

Goal Reached, Now What?

Even though our goal has been met, there’s still 2 days left in our Kickstarter campaign. This means that if you haven’t yet pledged your support there’s still time. If you’ve been meaning to pledge and just haven’t gotten around to it, I want you to know that you still have a chance to do so.

“But why would I give you money if you’ve reached your goal?” you might ask. Good question! I have an answer:

The $5000 goal was set based on the minimum amount we needed to rehearse, record, mix and master the CD. This is based on the fixed costs of the recording and the minimum amount I felt comfortable paying the band for their time and talent. The first thing I’ll do if I can raise even more money is pay the band more. Josh, Evan, D’Vonne, Cynthia and Michele are all amazing artists who deserve to be well compensated for their contributions to this project. Nothing would make me happier than to be able to pay them more than I promised. I was able to do this when we toured the West Coast in the Spring because of the generous donations of our supporters. With your help, I can do it again this time around.

In addition, I still have to come up with the money to pay for the design and production of the physical CD’s themselves. Any money that comes in above and beyond the extra money for the band will help me offset these costs.

Every Pledge Made Today Will Be Matched Dollar-for-Dollar!

Thanks to some very generous backers (who wish to remain anonymous) I have an incentive to offer you today only: every pledge made today will be matched dollar-for-dollar. This means if you make a $10 pledge, we’ll get $20. If you make a $50 pledge, we’ll get $100. You’ll double your money without doubling your money!

So, again, if you’ve been meaning to pledge but just haven’t gotten around to it, today is the day to get around to it! You’ll get more bang for your buck and we’ll get double the money…it’s a win-win!

Thanks again for all the support. Whether you pledged, tweeted, Facebooked, emailed, blog or talking about the project, you are the reason we will be able to make our best CD yet! I can’t wait to share it with you.
