Jason Parker Quartet at Del Mar Beach

The Jason Parker Quartet is 6 days into our West Coast Tour. What with the driving and the playing and the sleeping, I haven’t been able to find the time to blog like I had hoped to.

Today we had a glorious day in the San Diego area. We are staying with my Aunt and Uncle in Del Mar, and after they fed us a huge dinner last night and huge breakfast today, we set out for the beach. Josh has been itching to surf since we first saw the ocean a few days ago, so we took him to Swami’s Beach and he got out in it!

But I’m getting ahead of myself. I’m going to start posting video, audio and photos from the tour, and thought I’d do it in chronological order. So today I give you a little video I spliced together of our first stop on the tour. Eugene, you say? Ah no, we stopped long before that:

Auspicious start, eh? 😉

We decided on day one to keep track of what we listened to in the van. We’ve been covering a lot of ground and thought maybe you’d like tos see the diverse tastes of the band. All albums are linked to a place to purchase if you desire (no, we are not sponsored by Amazon! ;))

Day 1:

1. Horace Silver Quintet – Finger Poppin’
2. Miles Davis – The Complete 1964 Concert – Four and More
3. Jason Linder – Now vs. Now
4. Brian Blade Fellowship – Season of Changes
5. Bad Plus – These Are The Vistas
6. Dela – The Robert Glasper Beat Tape
7. Bill Evans Trio – Explorations
8. Bjork – Volta
9. Brad Mehldau – Highway Traveler
10. Christian Scott – Yesterday You Said Tomorrow
11. Brian Kinsella – Welcome to Candyland
12. The City Champs – The Safecracker
13. Jan Jelinek and Triosk – Triosk meets Jan Jelinek
14. J Dilla – Donuts

Stay tuned for a recap of our Eugene experience next!

YAY!!

Yes, very auspicious start to the tour. 😀 I laughed when I saw the tweet in real-time that you had to stop to pick up the sticks.

I’m glad that you shared the play list! Very cool…
