Hello from sunny New York City! I’m in the Big Apple to celebrate my nephew’s 3rd birthday and can’t believe how beautiful it is here. Yesterday we took a walk in Central Park, where the sun was shining, the cherry blossoms were blooming, and the street musicians were out in force! I’m looking forward to more sunny days, amazing food, and even a bit of live music.

Meanwhile, there are a couple of things going on with the Jason Parker Quartet that I wanted to remind you about:

JPQ on Sonarchy Radio

JPQ on Sonarchy this Sunday!

JPQ on Sonarchy this Sunday!

A few months ago the JPQ recorded live for Sonarchy Radio. Sonarchy is a program on KEXP in Seattle that showcases new music from Pacific Northwest artists and is now in its 14th year! Doug Haire is the producer and mixes these shows live in the studios at Jack Straw Productions. We recorded an hour’s worth of music with our special guest Cynthia Mullis, which will be broadcast this Sunday/Monday from midnight-1:00am. Tune in if you can! If you miss it, the show will be available to stream live on the website for 2 weeks, and then available as a podcast after that.

The Jason Parker Quartet Spring Tour is now only a few weeks away! We will be leaving on May 6th to travel the highways and byways of the West Coast, from Seattle to San Diego and back. I’ve found some really great venues for us to play in and can’t wait to see the reaction we’ll get to our music. I’m excited to play for new fans and also for old friends and family, many of whom have never seen me play live. We’ll be playing tunes from our latest CD, “No More, No Less”, dusting off some of our older tunes from past CD’s, and even debuting a few new tunes along the way.

As you can imagine, this is no small feat, and certainly not an inexpensive proposition. Costs are quickly mounting, including van rental, gas, food, lodging, artist fees, personal masseuse, go-go dancers, fog machine, pet sitters (OK, maybe not those last few, but you get the picture). If you’d like to help, please check out the Micropatronage Program I have developed. For a small donation of your hard-earned money you will receive some fabulous prizes, a chance to come on tour with us, and our undying love and gratitude! Every $5 or $10 donation (or more) helps us find a bed, eat a meal, put gas in the tank, etc. But most importantly, you will be helping us live out our dream of becoming a touring band!

There’s been a lot of talk about the death of the music industry recently, but we’re out here fighting the good fight and making exciting music, and with your help we can spread that music and the joy that comes with it practically from Canada to Mexico.

I hope you’ll consider making a small donation to the cause. It would mean the world to me.

Here’s our full tour itinerary. If you live anywhere near one of our tour stops, I hope you’ll come out to see us!

I’m just sad that while you are on the ‘right’ coast you couldn’t do any shows … like about 4 hours west of where you are now … namely in Corning NY … you’d definitely have at least 4 folks eager to see you … well, I’d be eager, the wife and kids would have no say 🙂
