Nice article. I'm one of the people who is new enough to the music business that all I have ever used for networking and marketing is the internet. I have found it to be great for hooking up woth out of town bands on tour who need a sub. Some of my highest paying and funnest gigs have been with bands or artists who found me on myspace just by searching "seattle bass player" on google, facebook has also had the same impact on my gig getting. I also use Myspace to post video lessons for my students, and to promote multiple bands at once under the umbrella of Tim Carey the bass player. Honestly, I don't know what I'd do without it.
