A Time For Gratitude

I am Grateful

Over the Thanksgiving weekend my Nick Drake Project Kickstarter Campaign passed the 50% mark! This means that with your help, we are now halfway to funding the recording of our new CD. I am so grateful for the support so far. It means the world to me that you’ve pledged to help us make this beautiful recording. Not only that, but you have become and active participant in the process…in effect YOU are my record label! How cool is that?!?!?

As an independent artist, I am acutely aware of where my money comes from and how fast it goes right back out again. I am my own manager and accountant, so I put together and manage the budget for projects like this all by myself. Because of this, I know very well that every donation of $10 or $20 helps out immensely. This is why each and every time I received an email from Kickstarter with the title New Backer Alert! I am filled with gratitude. Getting those emails throughout each day gives me a renewed sense of purpose and an even bigger resolve to create the most beautiful and lasting music that I can. I know that with your help, we’re going to make the best record we’ve ever made, which will be as much a testament to you as it is to us. A wise woman once said, “It takes a village”, and even though she was talking about something much more important than the making of a record, her sentiment applies here, too. When I say we couldn’t do it without you, it isn’t just a platitude, it’s the truth! And for that I am eternally grateful.

All-Or-Nothing

As of today, we have 24 days left to raise the other half of the money. As I mentioned before in my post explaining how Kickstarter works, this is an all-or-nothing proposition. If we don’t raise the additional funds by December 23rd, no one gets charged and we have to forfeit all of the money that’s been pledged. This creates a bit of urgency, to say the least!

If you are planning to pledge to the project but just haven’t found the time, please consider taking two minutes to do it now. You can also help out by sharing this project with as many people as you can, especially folks you know who are jazz fans, Nick Drake fans, or fans of supporting the arts and independent artists. The best endorsement I can get is a personal endorsement from you! Click here to share the project to your Facebook wall, Twitter feed or through email. I so appreciate your help in getting the word out to as many people as possible.

While you’re taking a minute to pledge or spread the word, here’s a beautiful song by my Twitter buddy, solo bassist Steve Lawson. It’s called “Grace and Gratitude”, and it perfectly expresses the gratitude I’m feeling for the love and support I’ve received.
