The 100 CD’s Project traveled north to picturesque Port Townsend, WA yesterday. My band Water Babies played a show at Water Street Brewing and I took the opportunity to drop another 10 copies of Jason Parker Quartet, “No More, No Less” in the wild.

Drop Method #2

Drop Method #2

After much thought I decided to try a different approach this time. Rather than wrap the CD’s up in brown paper bags I just made a slit in the shrink-wrap and stuck the note inside the CD with just the top showing, as pictured here. I’m going to see if that generates more response. I’m starting to wonder if the reason I’ve only heard from two people is that folks are afraid to open a mysterious package. This way, it’s obvious that it’s a CD, and “This is a gift for you” is poking out the top.

I started my trip on the ferry from Edmonds to Kingston, and ignoring all Homeland Security warnings not to leave items unattended, I scattered 5 CD’s around the MV Puyallup.

I actually saw a guy pick up CD #24, read the note, show it to his friend, and then put it right back where he found it! Here they are discussing it:

CD #25: MV Puyallup

I liked this last placement the best. This guy was parked right behind me and I saw him pick it up and put the CD in his little cargo holder on the back of the bike. Who knows, maybe I’ll be huge with the bikers??

When I arrived in Port Townsend I got back to work and found some nice places to leave my little babies:

Port Townsend is a great jazz town, despite its size, so I’m hoping I’ll get some good responses from this latest drop. I’ll keep you posted.

Meanwhile, CD’s are winging their way around the globe right now, from Houston to New York to Copenhagen to Reykjavik. Thanks to all my accomplices the JPQ is worldwide!
